Discover How LineDrive & Greenfield Industries Revolutionize Drill Usage In Storage Operations

THE CHALLENGE

A major storage company with 2,500 locations faced a substantial challenge as they utilized High-Speed Steel (HSS) drills, imported from overseas, to drill through the specialized locks of abandoned storage units. This process was necessary to open up the units, but it resulted in an excessive consumption of drills, averaging over 20,000 drills per year. The company was grappling with high costs due to the constant need for replacements and the inefficiencies associated with the hand drill application process.

LINEDRIVE SOLUTION

LineDrive proposed switching from the conventional HSS drills to Greenfield Industries' Cobalt 6 Flat Drills. The objective was to reduce costs while simultaneously addressing the problem of drill spillage during the hand drill application process. Before implementing the change on a large scale, LineDrive conducted a thorough trial period to ensure the effectiveness and compatibility of the recommended drills with the customer’s operations.

THE RESULTS

The new drills demonstrated a remarkable 40% improvement in efficiency, leading to a dramatic reduction in drill usage. With LineDrive's recommendation, the storage company expects to cut down on over 4,000 drills annually, resulting in an estimated savings of $40K each year. This substantial decrease in drill consumption not only translates to significant cost savings but also enhances operational efficiency and productivity for the company. The financial impact is further amplified by the reduced need for frequent replacements, lowering maintenance costs and minimizing downtime, ultimately contributing to a more streamlined and cost-effective operation.
